The meeting was attended online by leaders of various parties, including Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, and began with a tribute to the 20 soldiers killed.

According to the Press Trust of India (PTI), the all-party conference, India wants peace and friendship but will not compromise on its sovereignty.

"Until now, those who were not questioned, those who were not stopped, now our youth are stopping them in many sectors, they are warning," he said.

China released the soldiers Thursday evening in the Gulwan Valley. But neither the government nor the military has confirmed his release.
